📌 UP Basic Education Admission Rules (2026-27)

Admission cut-offs in UP Basic Education are strictly based on age limits in accordance with NEP 2020 and official state government directives.

⏳ Official Cut-off Date

1st April (for every academic session). Age is calculated as of 1st April. The child must complete the required age on this exact date.

🎓 Class-wise Age Limits for 2026-27 (As of 1st April 2026)

Nursery: 3 to 4 Years
LKG: 4 to 5 Years
UKG: 5 to 6 Years
Class 1: 6 to 7 Years (Minimum 6 years is mandatory)

Example (For Class 1): The child must have completed 6 years on 1st April 2026 (i.e., DOB between 2nd April 2019 and 1st April 2020). Children completing 6 years after 1st April will be eligible in the next session.

🏫 Where do these rules apply?

These rules apply to both Government Basic Schools and RTE 25% seats in Private Schools. Since 2024, the UP Govt strictly mandates that children below 6 years cannot be admitted to Class 1 (they must be sent to Balvatika/Anganwadi).

📅 Is there a last date for admission?

In Govt Basic Schools, admissions are usually open even after the session starts, subject to neighborhood seat availability.
For RTE 25% (Private Schools), deadlines occur in phases (Phase 1, 2, 3 usually in Feb-March).
There is no fixed "year-long last date". Late admissions are possible with a TC, but strict adherence to age limits is mandatory.
